Geothermal Group Training Course in Japan

History of the course

The group training course was originally started in 1970 as a general course on geothermal energy and closed in 1989 after twenty years operation, which accepted 272 participants from 32 countries in total. Then, the course was upgraded to the advanced course in geothermal energy and lasted for ten years until 1999. A total of 98 engineers and scientists from 16 countries participated in the course.

The present training course in Geothermal Energy and Environmental Sciences as well as the former courses has been conducted at Kyushu University. They are one of the courses organized and financed by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) of the Japanese Government.
